Managing to Keep Time

Your managers and supervisors will benefit from this interactive, high-energy wage and hour course focused on understanding issues related to overtime, meals and breaks. Based on your organization’s expectations, pay practices and policies, Seyfarth at Work’s targeted and practical training uses innovative tools and techniques to enable participants to respond to a range of federal and state-specific overtime, meal/break, minimum wage and payday requirements and trends. The training focuses on understanding the importance of following compensation and time recording policies and procedures, and how to consistently and effectively communicate relevant expectations to employees. Program questions to be addressed can include, but are not limited to: What are the differences between exempt and non-exempt employees? What is the impact of employees working through lunch and breaks? What are the effects on the organization when an employee’s time is under or over-recorded? What issues must be escalated and to whom? In addition, managers learn how to handle sensitive situations such as “off the clock” work, missed punches and requests for corrections. Participants are given sample scripts and simple, clear messages that ensure greater accountability and set a consistent “standard” on time.

Note: a California-specific module is also available
